
Leslie Junkin
As an advocate for individuals with disabilities and their families for 25 years, Leslie has presented extensively in the areas of IDEA, transition, parenting children with disabilities, communication, conflict resolution, advocacy, and the individualized education program (IEP) throughout the state. She is the project director for the Mississippi Parent Training and Information Center (MSPTI) and has been with them for 17 years. Leslie worked as a Parent Liaison with Early Intervention for 14 years, is a member of the Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services State Rehabilitation Council, and the Mississippi Department of Health State Interagency Coordinating Council (SICC). Leslie wants all families to know they deserve a seat at the table and the right to have their voices heard. Leslie’s most important job is being mom to, Isabella, her 25-year-old daughter that has Down syndrome and Type 1 diabetes.
