Brainstorm! FAQ

The answer to this depends on the type of event you hold as well as how you collect donations. Donations gathered on GoFundMe, Facebook, or other online applications are often delivered directly to the nonprofit selected, but cash or check donations can be delivered directly to the Autism Center of North Mississippi.

There are many ways you can tell people about your fundraiser! Our favorite ways to get the word out include social media, mail, and word-of-mouth.
 
We provide a free media kit which includes pre-made social media posts you can publish directly to your personal accounts.

Level: Easy

Fundraise right from your phone or computer with GoFundMe – its so easy!

Steps to start off:

  1. Sign up for GoFundMe and Start a Fundraiser
  2. Set your funds to benefit the Autism Center of North Mississippi
  3. Share your fundraiser through social media, email, text, and more!

 

*Tip: To jumpstart your donations, be your first donor! When other donors see someone has already given, even if it is a small gift, they are more willing to give their own gift.

Facebook Birthday

Level: Easy

Have a birthday coming up? Well, happy birthday! Starting a birthday fundraiser on facebook is a super simple way to make a difference on your special day.

Steps to start off:

  1. Log in to Facebook near the day of your birthday
  2. Select the Autism Center of North Mississippi as your non-profit of choice
  3. Share your fundraiser through social media, email, text, and more!

 

*Tip: To jumpstart your donations, be your first donor! When other donors see someone has already given, even if it is a small gift, they are more willing to give their own gift.

Zoom Party

Level: Easy

Reconnect with friends virtually no matter the physical distance! Everyone loves a good themed party, so why not a Brainstorm! party? Grab your favorite props, grab your Brainstorm! tshirt, and hop on zoom to chat, laugh, and play a game or two.

Steps to start off:

  1. Invite your friends to your Brainstorm! Zoom Party
  2. Share on social media for a larger audience (if you would like)
  3. Share your donation link for Brainstorm!

 

*Tip: Plan an activity like a costume contest, or to talk about a new movie you have all seen as an ice breaker!

Yard Sale

Level: Intermediate

Grab some friends and gather up your knick knacks, extra tshirts, and shoes you no longer wear, its time for a yard sale – or garage/gym/parking lot/facebook sale! Wherever you choose to sell, the proceeds are supporting the community we all love.

Steps to start off:

  1. Find a place you can sell your items (online or in person) such as your yard, garage, church gym, etc.
  2. Gather, price, and organize your items to sell while you tell everyone the date and time to shop your awesome items!
  3. Invite everyone in your area to check out your sale!

 

*Tip: Try to hold your sale when the most people can come (i.e. a Saturday afternoon) instead of a time when most people will be at work or busy (i.e. weekdays between 8-5)

Church Group Competition

Level: Intermediate

Does your youth group, sunday school class, or bible study group love good and healthy competition? Who doesn’t! Split into teams to see who can raise the most funds before a set date. Make it fun with team names and a leader board!

Steps to start off:

  1. Split into teams and set your date to have funds raised
  2. Decide the best platform to raise your funds (we suggest GoFundMe for the easiest option)
  3. Invite everyone in your area to support your team!

 

*Tip: Be your first donor! Even if it is a small donation, new donors are more likely to donate if someone has already donated before them.

Car Wash

Level: Intermediate

A car wash is a classic way to raise funds! Grab some friends, some sponges, and a bucket to support the Autism Center of North Mississippi!

Steps to start off:

  1. Find a parking lot or similar to hold your car wash (be sure you have permission)
  2. Set a date and time before sharing on social media and with those around you
  3. Wash cars, hold up posters to grab attention, and share a smile while supporting your community!

Restaurant Night

Level: Intermediate

Restaurant nights are a super fun way to gather your community for yummy food and a fun day in support of a great cause.

Steps to start off:

  1. Find a restaurant owner in your area who can help
  2. Choose a date and length of time where a portion of proceeds will be donated to the Autism Center of North Mississippi
  3. Share it as much as you can before the time comes as well as during the time to get the most people to attend

Paint Party

Level: Highly Involved

Paint Parties are a chance to let your creativity flow and have fun with friends!

Steps to start off:

  1. Find a paint party leader (some companies such as Wet Paint in Tupelo offer services to make this even easier)
  2. Invite friends, family, and whoever would be interested to join the party!
  3. Share it as much as you can before the time comes as well as during the time to get the most people to attend
  4. Accept donations or admission in the form of donations before and during the event

 

*Tip: These events can be on the more pricey side, so be sure to gather quotes before committing to the event. You can also host your own by leading the group with your own materials!

Want to make it virtual? Host your party on zoom for a covid-friendly paint party!

Want a more adult-geared paint party? Add wine or cocktails to make your party a paint and sip!

Field Day

Level: Highly Involved

Embrace your inner child and throw a field day! This can be big or small with as many activities as your imagination can create. 

Steps to start off:

  1. Find a field, gym, or similar to hold your Field Day (be sure you have permission)
  2. Set a date and time before sharing on social media and with those around you
  3. Plan your activities, gather your supplies, and set up the day before starting the party!

Talent Show

Level: Highly Involved

Talent Shows – a classic time to show off talents, share some laughs, and have a fantastic time! 

Steps to start off:

  1. Find a stage, a open area, or similar where you can host a variety of talents (keep music and sound systems in mind)
  2. Set a date and time before sharing on social media and with those around you
  3. Sell tickets to the show so proceeds can support the Autism Center of North Mississippi!

Block Party

Level: Highly Involved

Gather the neighborhood for a block party! Have a pot luck, music, and maybe even a bounce house – bring on the party!
 
Steps to start off:
  1. Find a field, backyard, section of your neighborhood, or similar to hold your Block Party (be sure you have permission)
  2. Set a date and time before sharing on social media and with those around you for invitations
  3. Plan your activities, gather your supplies, and set up the day before starting the party!
